  • Android Workshop - National Android Developer Challenge, India 2016

The Department. of Computer Science and Information Technology organized a two-day workshop on Android - National Android Developer Challenge India, 2016, in association with ARK Technosolutions, Robokart.com, official partners for National Robotics Championship India. The workshop was held between 27th & 28th August, 2015 for the students of T.Y.B.Sc. & S.Y.B.Sc., Comp. Sc. & I.T. and M.Sc. I.T. ARK Technosolutions, an award winning company as "Business Leader in Robotics and Android Training in India", works on designing and developing experiential learning tools.

The objective of the workshop was to introduce the students to basics of Android Operating System through modules for signing effective navigation, managing audio playback, hooking up widgets such as buttons, list views, applying skins, themes, making SMS App, and Music Player. Best and qualified students will be participating in the national level competition to be held at IIT Bombay.

The two day workshop was inaugurated by Principal Manju Nichani who motivated and encouraged the organisers and participants to meet up with the current challenges in technology. Vice Principal and coordinator of computer Science, Dr. Hemlata Bagla expressed the need of certificate programme for bridging the gap between the industry and academics. Vice Principal and coordinator of I.T., Dr. Shalini Sinha, Coordinator of MSc. I.T., Dr. Rakhi Gupta and faculty members from Computer Science and I.T were present at the inauguration. The resource persons Mr. Rahul Kanojia and Mr. Aakash Patel provided the training on App making using Android operating system. The sessions were designed to demonstrate best practices for solving common Android development problems. Each session explained the steps required to solve a problem, or implement a feature, with code snippets and sample code to use within apps. During the Workshop, the students were divided into groups and topics were given for submission before the close of the workshop. The apps were scrutinised by the experts and the best students were identified and chosen for the next level of competition. A Championship will be held at IIT Bombay to choose the winners from various institutions who will move forward to the Finale of NADC 2016. At the end of the workshop students were given free Android Software kit consisting of Android SDK, Eclipse IDE, Java JDK, and Android outline study material. Students were also given certificate of participation given jointly by K.C College and ARK Technosolutions. The Certifications awarded includes Certificate of A ssociation for K.C College, Certificate of Appreciation to coordinating teachers and students, Certificate of Participation to all the student participants and Certificate of Merit to the winners. This Workshop definitively has been a stepping stone for upgrading the knowledge in a practical and realistic sense rather than a mere text book learning for the students.
