The Department of Mass Media of K. C. College organized "Media Summit" - 2016 a two-day International conference. This year the theme of the conference was 'Digital Democracy' and the conference was held on 19th & 20th February, 2016 at the Churchgate campus.

The International Conference aimed at exploring various aspects of digital tools. The Inauguration Ceremony of this International Summit was graced by Chief Guest, Mr. Sachin Kalbag, Editor, The Hindu, Mumbai. The Keynote Speaker was Ms. Vanita Kohli - Khandekar, a media specialist and writer. She has been tracking the Indian media and entertainment business for over a decade.

Ms. Manjula Srinivas, along with the distinguished guests, unveiled the third volume of the journal Media Research and Communication Studies Journal (MRCSJ) and Scribe, the newspaper produced designed & published by the TYBMM Journalism students.

Day One: Day one of the summit saw four sessions- ranging from – IPR & Cyber laws & Legacy Media, to New Media & Social Networking Sites, New Perspectives & a 'Miscellaneous' section. The Chair Persons & Cochairs for these sessions were Dr. Matthew Martin, Mr. Sanjay Ranade & Ms. Anjali Talreja, Dr. Sunder Rajdeep, Dr. Mira Patel & Mr. Yogesh Pawar, respectively. In these sessions, papers pertaining to Digital Media were presented by faculty from different colleges & institutions from Mumbai & other parts of India.

Day Two: Day two had one session with paper presenters sharing their views on Digital aspect of media in Advertising/ Marketing/ PR. The Chair Person for this session was Mr. Sundeep Nagpal.

All papers will later be published in a journal with an ISSN number.

This was followed by a Panel Discussion based on the theme of 'Digital Democracy & the Aam Aadmi' where the panellists were Mr. Umesh Shrikhande, CEO, Taproot advertising, Ms. Mahabanoo Modi - Kotwal, theatre personality, Mr. Shailesh Gandhi, RTI activist, Ms. Harini Calamur, Cogito productions and Ms. Smita Deshmukh, media professional. It was moderated by Mrs. Nandini Sardesai, Member of Censor Board. The two-day conference concluded with the Valedictory Session which was graced by Mr. Sourav Mazumdar, as Chief Guest. Mr.Mazumdar shared his varied and stimulating experiences in the field of journalism with the students Ms. Manjula Srinivas.
