Bio-ethnica

The Department of Life Sciences aims at holistic development of the students and to provide platforms and opportunities for the same by organizing events and preparing students for intercollegiate festivals. The Bio-Ethnica is one such co-curricular event organized by the Department of Life Sciences. Bio Ethnica was initiated around 10 years back, as an intercollegiate event to encourage young mind to think in an innovative manner and present creative ideas for various themes related to Biology under various categories such as Bio-jewelry making and presentation, Salad Making, Fruit Carving, Flower arrangement, Floral Rangoli, Best out of Waste etc. This program grew to an Intercollegiate status and different themes related to environment awareness were also added to inculcate the thoughts of environmental consciousness and sustainable development, in association with Nature Club of K.C. College. The competitions such as Slogan writing, Nature photography, Caption the Images, and more were added. This program is one of the most awaited programs of the year for the students of Dept of Life Sciences and also for the students across colleges in Mumbai. Since the year 2017 Bio-Ethnica is organized under ‘Sci-Code’, the Intercollegiate Innovative Science Fest funded by DBT Star Scheme, and has offered a new dimension to it by giving prizes for Innovative Ideas and Creativity by Principal Dr. Hemlata Bagla. Many student alumni, express their happiness towards Bio-Ethnica as a platform offered by KCLSc for their creative expressions and some of them have made a career in the creative fields.
