The certificate course on Law Justice & Rights from January 2025 to March 2025. Resource persons comprised a mix of academics, legal practitioners and activists. As part of the course work, student visits to legal institutions like courts rooms, police stations were conducted.
The department of Sociology, K.C College, in collaboration with IQAC organised an engaging session on ‘Know Your Rights’ by Adv. Nausheen Yousuf on 8th March, 2025 in collaboration with IQAC & Gender Issues Cell.
The department of Sociology organised an Alumni Meet on 3th March, 2025 of their accomplished alumni comprising academics, independent researchers, corporate, advertising and HR professionals. Each alumnus shared their journey after college, their current profession and how Sociology has helped them shape a better career for themselves.
The Department of Sociology, School of Performing Arts and Department of Liberal Studies at HSNC University in collaboration with Mariwala Health Initiative, organised a Conference titled ‘Counter Narratives: MHI Conference’ on the theme ‘Mental Health of Marginalised Communities: Perspectives from India’ in February 2025. A Total 400 participants attended the sessions.
The department of Sociology hosted an interactive session on ‘Children on the Move’ on 30th January, 2025 by one of its alumni, an independent Social & Child Protection Specialist, Ms Avantee Bansal.
The department of Sociology conducted a visit to the Apre Art House, an exhibition centre in Mumbai on 23rd November, 2024. The visit helped students immensely in understanding how work politics shape art and social realities.
The department of Sociology at K.C College, HSNC University organised an ICSSR sponsored Mid-Term National Conference in collaboration with the Research Committee on Gender Studies (RC-10) of the Indian Sociological Society, New Delhi on ‘INTERROGATING SOCIOLOGY: FEMINIST (RE)IMAGINATION’ on 20th and 21st September, 2024.
The department of Sociology successfully conducted two credit certificate courses in this academic year. The certificate course on Gender Studies from August 2024 to October 2024. Resource persons from diverse fields including academics, filmmaking, law, activism and advocacy groups were invited to give lectures.
Department of Sociology organised a field visit for SYBA students on 8th July, 2024 on the theme ‘Architectural Walk: Art Deco Buildings’ in the Churchgate area as part of course paper on Popular Culture.
Event : Acropolis 2026, an intercollegiate economics festival themed “EcoVerse: Illusions of Growth,”
Date : January 23rd and 24th, 2026.
Highlights included the launch of the forum’s first research magazine and strategic simulations like “Moneyball Wars” and “Stuck in Stockhome”. Creative events like “Acro Icon” translated economic narratives into visual fashion expressions. The festival concluded successfully with a closing ceremony and cultural performances. Ultimately, the event achieved its goals of promoting critical inquiry, creativity, and experiential learning. It served as a significant platform for student empowerment and academic engagement.

Event : Acropolis 2024 – Nova: Born to Shine
Date : 23rd and 24th December 2024
It was an intercollegiate academic and cultural festival. The festival successfully fostered
academic excellence, competitive spirit, and cultural exchange among approximately 1000 participating students from eight different colleges.

The event was a grand success that effectively generated immense enthusiasm, student
engagement, and institutional pride, setting a memorable tone for the upcoming flagship fest. Mr. Sunny Deol and Mr. Bobby Deol were invited as chief guest.
Event : The Garba Evening
Date : October 22, 2024
Approximately 300 students participated in traditional Garba and Dandiya performances, which were conducted in two slots to accommodate the high turnout. The evening also featured a cake-cutting ceremony. The presence of alumni further strengthened the bond between past and present students. Ultimately, the event was a grand success, successfully fostering cultural appreciation, inclusivity, and camaraderie within the college community.
Event : The 58th A.D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition
Date : 1st October 2024
Focus of the Activity was on Critical socio-economic topics like digital infrastructure and economic reforms.
The event successfully fostered intellectual dialogue, public speaking skills, and confidence among the participants. Top speakers were recognized with certificates and cash prizes of up to ₹2500. Overall, the competition achieved its academic objective of encouraging articulate expression on contemporary global issues.
Event : Global Economy: Recent Trends and Developments

The speaker for the same was Dr. Tushar Poddar. The initiative enhanced students’
understanding of contemporary global economic issues, including post-pandemic recovery and India’s evolving role in the global landscape.
Event: Seminar on Present Scenario of Hindi Journalism
Date: 26 September 2025
A seminar was organized to discuss the present form and challenges of Hindi journalism. Experts spoke about digital media, ethical issues, and changing trends in news reporting. Students participated through questions and short presentations. The program enhanced awareness about career opportunities and responsibilities in journalism.
Event: Expression Ceremony on Premchand Jayanti
Date: 31 July 2025
An Expression Ceremony was conducted to commemorate Premchand Jayanti and celebrate his contribution to Hindi fiction. Students presented speeches, short stories, and dialogues based on Premchand’s themes. The activities encouraged creative expression and awareness of social realism in literature. The program promoted moral values and literary sensitivity among students.
Event: Seminar on Jaishankar Prasad and Hindi Literature
Date: 25 March 2025
A seminar was organized to discuss the literary contributions of Jaishankar Prasad to Hindi literature. Honrable guest members delivered talks on his poetry, drama, and philosophical ideas. Students actively participated in discussions and shared their views on his major works. The session helped in enhancing literary understanding and critical thinking among students.
