Campus Placement Program
Department of Mass Media is conducting the campus placement program for the academic year 2019-20 from March 5-14, 2020 for all courses.Companies from various sectors of media are coming to the campus to recruit graduating students for job vacancies and internship positions. This includes companies like Sony Pictures Network, Rajshri Productions, Outlook Magazine, Archetype PR, White Turtle Production, Yangpoo, etc.
Industrial Visit to Nainital and Jim Corbett
35 students from BMM and BAFTNMP went on an Industrial Visit to Nainital and Jim Corbett from February 23-March 1, 2020. Two teachers from the department accompanied the students. They visited Nainital, Bhimtal, Jim Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary and Delhi. A Jungle Safari, a session with wildlife photographer and a visit to Dainik Bhaskar Office in Delhi were the highlights of this visit.
Guest Lecture: Mr. Ashley Burgess, Griffith Film School
Mr. Ashley Burgess, a faculty from Griffith Film School, Australia visited the Department of Mass Media on February 26, 2020. He conducted a session with the students of BMM and BAFTNMP. The topic of the session was ‘How does cross-cultural engagement improve storytelling?.
Guest Lecture: Rahul Joglekar
On February 18, 2020, Rahul Joglekar, Director of Melantra UK- a media production and training company based in London visited the department for a guest lecture for students of FYBMM. He spoke about opportunities in Journalism across the world.
Guest Lecture: Dr. Anette Svensson and Dr. Renira Gambaratto, Jönköping University, Sweden
Dr. Anette Svensson and Dr. Renira Gambaratto, faculty members from Jönköping University, Sweden visited the department for guest lectures on Textual Analysis and Transmedia, respectively. It was an interactive session where students participated in a discussion with both the guests.
Film Screening and Discussion- Indian Space Dreams
Indian Space Dreams, a documentary film directed by Sue Sudbury, Documentary Filmmaker and Faculty of Media and Communication, Bournemouth University, UK was screened for the students of the department. The screening was followed by a discussion on the film with the filmmaker.
Roll. Take. Turn.
Roll. Take. Turn. is an annual documentary film festival wherein the documentaries made by the students of TYBMM are screened. This project is a part of their paper- Contemporary Issues. Student groups select a relevant topic, carry out research and film the documentary by themselves. This year,the event took place on February 6, 2020.Ms. Pooja Bhatt, renowned actor, was the chief guest for the event.
Session: Career Beam
A session about education opportunities in graphic design and visual communication was organised for students of BMM and BAFTNMP on December 16, 2019. Career Beam, an organisation that works in career orientation and development area conducted this session for the students.
Industrial Visit to Delhi
20 Students from BMM course went on an industrial visit to Delhi from November 22-25, 2019. They visited studios of 2 news channels- India TV and India Today during this trip. Interactive sessions with senior journalists from both the media houses were arranged in these visit. Students got to witness live telecast of news and entire set-up of studios very closely. One teacher from the department accompanied the students on this trip.
Kiran Blitzkrieg
The department organised its annual intercollegiate media festival Kiran Blitzkrieg on Sept 17, 2019. This year the theme was Academie of Contrasts that celebrated filmmakers who have made their mark in the industry. Several media-related events like copywriting, live reporting, poster-making, etc. were organised during the fest. Contingent named Imtiaz Ali won the best contingent award
Talk Journalism, Jaipur
Students from MACJ, MAEMA and BAFTNMP attended a three day event, Talk Journalism, at Jaipur from Sept 20-22, 2019. It was an informative and interactive event where eminent personalities in journalism from across the country conducted sessions and panel discussions on various contemporary issues.Students of the department participated and won prizes in photography, writing and Unconference events.
Industrial Visit to Pune
90 Students from all courses went on an industrial visit to Pune from August 23-24, 2019. They visited Film and Television Institute (FTII) and National Film Archives of India (NFAI) during the trip. The first film ever made in India, named Raja Harishchandra, was screened at NFAI for the students. They also went to Karla caves near Lonavala on their way back to Mumbai. Three teachers from the department accompanied them on this visit.
Cube Series 2019: Career, Courses and Challenges in Media
Department of Mass Media organized 6 th edition of lecture and workshop series, named as Cube Series,from 17th to 27th July, 2019. This series is conceptualized as an orientation series for the freshers.Through 15 different sessions this year, the series brought together some of the finest professionals from the field of print, television, films, photography, radio, public relations and new media to interact with the students.
Red Ink Awards, Mumbai
10 Students from BMM and MACJ course attended Red Ink Award Ceremony in Mumbai on June 28, 2019. In this event, various journalists across platforms are awarded for their outstanding contribution to the field of journalism. Students of the department attended the event and interacted with award winners about their work.
